Switching productivity apps is expensive. You move your tasks, relearn shortcuts and rebuild habits. A little care up front saves a lot of that. These seven questions cover the things that tend to matter once the novelty wears off.
1. Where does my data live?
Some apps store tasks in a cloud account, some on your machine. Neither is wrong, but you should know which one you are choosing. Cloud apps make syncing easy. Local apps keep your data under your control. We compare the two approaches here.
2. What happens with no internet?
Look for specifics. "Works offline" can mean anything from "fully functional" to "you can read cached pages". Check whether you must be signed in first, and how changes are reconciled.
3. How fast is capture?
If capturing a task takes more than a few seconds, you will stop doing it. Look for a global hotkey and natural-language input, so a sentence becomes a dated, prioritised task.
4. Can I see my work the way I think about it?
A list is not enough for everything. Check for the views you will actually use: a board for status, a calendar for scheduling, a timeline for load.
5. Does it help me do the work, not only list it?
A focus timer, ambient sound and a session record are small features that change how often you start. Habits are another area where a dedicated view beats a recurring task.
6. Can I leave?
Check for a full export in an open format. If you cannot get your data out, you are renting your own tasks. Minmento exports a full JSON backup.
7. What does it cost, and for what?
Look at the price, but also at what is behind it. Some apps gate features behind tiers; others include everything. Check the current store listing rather than a third-party summary.
Where Minmento fits
Minmento is a good fit if you work on Windows, want one window for tasks, calendar, focus and habits, and prefer your data on your own PC. It is not the right choice if you need sync across devices, a mobile app or shared workspaces. You can try the real interface in your browser on the interactive demo page before you install anything.
